Eli & Grace Duo
**We wish Eli the very best on his new journey to Berklee College of Music in Boston - Fall of 2018!!! We will surely miss him back here in Colorado, but he promised to play some reunion gigs on his return to Colorado for school breaks!!! Stay tuned!**
Eli Slocumb and Grace Kuch formed a duo project to play a unique blend of acoustic and electric Blues and Bluegrass – or “Bluesgrass.” They both began playing mandolin in the same modified Suzuki violin program at their elementary school in Fort Collins. Through the school’s “Bluegrass Club,” they began playing together over 6 years ago at school events. As Grace and Eli got older, they became mentors to the younger students in the elementary school program.
From his school program start, Eli has continued playing progressive bluegrass mandolin. He started a band called Nice Hat, Mister and has been sitting in with many professional bands. Eli picked up blues and bluegrass guitar, and dabbles with other instruments as well.
Grace used her bluegrass start to branch into the blues genre. She developed a strong blues style in her singing and guitar, and started her self-titled blues band. Grace continues to play mandolin, piano, and dabbles with other instruments.
In 2016, Eli and Grace reconnected their music and developed a duo that blends their interests in blues and bluegrass. The music is a unique mix of acoustic and electric styles, and they have performed together at a variety of venues in Northern Colorado. Having such a history together, even at their young ages, they can finish each other's musical sentences and blend well with their two guitars or with Eli's skilled mandolin work.
